Additional Roles Staff (ARRS)
Meet Our Additional Roles Team (ARRS)
At Birchwood Medical Centre, we are committed to providing the best possible care for our patients. As part of this, we have a team of highly skilled healthcare professionals working alongside our GPs and nurses through the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS).
These team members help ensure you are seen by the most appropriate clinician as quickly as possible.
Who are our ARRS staff?
Our team includes:
- Paramedics - experienced clinicians who can assess, treat, and manage a wide range of urgent and ongoing health conditions, including home visits.
- Clinical Pharmacists - experts in medicines who can review prescriptions, manage long-term conditions, and support medication queries.
- Pharmacy Technicians - support the safe and effective use of medicines, help with prescription queries, medication reviews, and improving medication safety.
- First Contact Physiotherapists (FCPs) - specialists in musculoskeletal problems such as joint, muscle, and back pain.
- Social Prescribers - provide support with non-medical issues such as loneliness, housing, finances, or wellbeing.
- Care Coordinators - help organise your care and support access to services.
Why might I see an ARRS clinician?
When you contact us, our GP's, reception or care navigation team may offer you an appointment with one of these professionals instead of a GP. This helps you:
- Get seen more quickly
- Receive care from a specialist in the right area
- Free up GP appointments for more complex needs
Is this safe?
Absolutely. All our ARRS staff are fully trained, qualified, and work closely with our GPs to provide safe, high-quality care.
